However, for Biln, getting from there to here was a journey. Born and bred in Vancouver, he grew up on Vancouver’s East Side, in a single-parent family. After considering law for a time, he decided to go to school for accounting and worked as a commercial banker for 20 years before making the transition to pharmacy owner. “I was lending people money for their businesses and realized I wanted to be on the other side of the table. I love people and not being tethered to a desk, so it was a natural change for me.”
It’s been 12 years and 6 pharmacies later, and Serge has not looked back. He has, however, evolved as he’s moved forward in his journey in the healthcare field. Biln explains, “the health care aspect of this business was a life changer for me. I’ve been on the corporate side and they aren’t set up for compassion or empathy. But as a smaller independent business, we are people-centred, and it’s changed me..."

“Weight loss is very personal, and you need someone to encourage you and someone you can trust.”
“I love getting to know my patients on a personal level. I like to know how their kids are doing, and about their last vacation.”

Pharmasave Kitsilano is pleased to introduce our amazing weight loss coach, Neda Mclaren. Neda has been a level 4 trainer with Ideal Protein for 4 years! She’s worked with over 200 clients who have had success using the Ideal Protein Weight Loss System!
Before Neda became a coach, she tried the doctor-derived Ideal Protein system as a client, and the results were incredible! She lost 20 pounds in only 2 months! It was her weight loss success that convinced her to become a coach, as she knew first hand that it worked. “It was important for me to work for a company that I believed in. I didn't’ want to be the face of something that didn’t work,” explained Mclaren.
Neda had tried other weight loss systems in the past, but, as she jokes, “the only thing that got skinnier was my wallet!” Her road to finding the right weight loss system was a windy one, but worth the journey!
Talking to Neda, it is clear that Ideal Protein works because it is more than just a diet. She explains, “people come in feeling vulnerable, and often with health conditions related to weight gain.

We are sitting in Serge’s living room in the heart of Kitsilano, the aroma of freshly brewed coffee hanging in the air, and the disembodied sound of squawking from what can only be some type of feathered creature. Biln doesn’t need to tell you he’s a family man, as school textbooks and what turns out to be his daughter’s beloved budgies give that away easily.
It’s clear that he’s a devoted family man, as the first thing he talks about is his children and his wife, Norma, of 19 years. “They’re who I live and die for,” he states, matter-of-factly.

Born in North Vancouver, Bernice Li graduated in 2008 from UBC in pharmaceutical sciences. After graduation, she worked at a small independent pharmacy, which gave her the opportunity to build relationships with customers and patients.
After a few years, Bernice wanted the chance to do more one to one counseling and joined the Howe Sound Pharmacy in Gibsons. “They had a big staff, so working there really helped me build my management skills and grow professionally,” she explains.
After two years with Howe Sound Pharmacy, Bernice decided to move back to Vancouver to be closer to her family and friends. We are pleased that she has been with Pharmasave Kitsilano since we opened our doors in 2016!
The Pharmacy Kitsilano family is pleased to introduce you to our wonderful pharmacist, Christina Yang. Christina is originally from the United States, but we are glad she traveled North!
Christina completed her B.A in Biological Sciences at the University of Rhode Island, and subsequently, earned her Doctorate of Pharmacy from the University of Michigan. Not too shabby!
After graduating, Christina stayed in Michigan where she worked at an independently owned pharmacy. She explains, “I love working at smaller, independently owned pharmacies because I want to have a personal connection with my patients. At the bigger stores, the staff often don’t have the time or opportunity to connect with patients or get to know them.”
